Masahiro Sakurai Announces Next Smash Roster Will Contain Representation From Every Work Of Fiction Ever Written

TOKYO - In a shocking and unprecedented move, legendary game developer Masahiro Sakurai announced today that the next installment of the popular Super Smash Bros. series will feature characters from every work of fiction ever written, including novels, comics, movies, TV shows, myths, legends, and fanfictions.

"This is it. This is my magnum opus. The game to end all games. The last and greatest story ever told. The ultimate crossover. The final smash," Sakurai said in a livestream presentation that lasted for over 12 hours and showcased only a fraction of the massive roster.

According to Sakurai, the new game, titled Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Ultimate, will include over 10 million playable characters, each with their own unique movesets, stages, items, music, and spirits. Some of the confirmed characters include Harry Potter, Batman, Spider-Man, Naruto, Goku, Frodo Baggins, Sherlock Holmes, Darth Vader, James Bond, Homer Simpson, SpongeBob SquarePants, Mickey Mouse, Shrek, Elsa, Mario, Sonic, Pikachu, Link, Kirby, Master Chief, Kratos, Doomguy, Geralt of Rivia, Lara Croft, Nathan Drake, Solid Snake, Cloud Strife, Sephiroth, Sora, Dante, Bayonetta, Ryu Hayabusa and many more.

Sakurai also revealed that the game will feature a new story mode called "The End of All Things", where all the characters must team up to stop an ancient evil that threatens to destroy the multiverse. The story mode will have branching paths and multiple endings depending on the player's choices and actions.

"The End of All Things is not just a game mode. It's a prophecy. A prophecy that foretells the end of humankind as we know it. Because once this game comes out, no one will ever need to play anything else. No one will ever need to read anything else. No one will ever need to watch anything else. No one will ever need to do anything else. Everyone will be consumed by this game. Everyone will be smashed by this game," Sakurai said with a maniacal laugh.

Sakurai also announced that nonfiction DLC character packs will be available for purchase, adding even more diversity and realism to the game. Some of the confirmed nonfiction characters include Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Osama bin Laden, Donald Trump, Kim Jong-un, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Oprah Winfrey, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, LeBron James, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and many more.

"These are the real heroes and villains of history. The people who shaped our world. The people who inspire us. The people who challenge us. The people who make us laugh. The people who make us cry. The people who make us angry. The people who make us happy. The people who make us human. And now they can smash each other in the face with baseball bats and pokeballs," Sakurai said with a smile.

The nonfiction DLC character packs will cost $9.99 each and will include one character, one stage, one item, one music track and one spirit. Sakurai said that he plans to release at least 1000 nonfiction DLC character packs over the next 10 years.
