Nickelodeon Announces Revival Series “Josh and Josh”
Fans of the hit sitcom “Drake & Josh” were shocked and confused when Nickelodeon announced a revival series titled “Josh and Josh”, featuring Josh Peck and his inexplicable clone, also named Josh.
The network did not provide any explanation for the absence of Drake Bell, who played Drake Parker, the cool and popular half of the duo. Bell was recently convicted of child endangerment and attempted child abduction, and is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence.
Nor did the network offer any reason for how Josh Nichols, the nerdy and awkward half of the duo, gained an identical clone, who shares his name, personality, and memories. The only difference between the two Joshes is that one wears glasses and the other does not.
The revival series will follow the adventures of Josh and Josh as they navigate adulthood, friendship, and romance, while also dealing with the occasional mishaps and misunderstandings that arise from having a clone.
Nickelodeon president Brian Robbins said that the network is excited to bring back one of its most beloved shows, and hopes that fans will enjoy the new twist.
“We know that Drake & Josh was a huge part of many people’s childhoods, and we wanted to honor that legacy with a fresh and funny reboot,” Robbins said. “Josh and Josh will have the same chemistry and humor that made the original show so popular, but with a new and unique twist that will keep viewers guessing and laughing.”
Robbins also said that the network is not concerned about the potential backlash from fans who might be disappointed or outraged by the changes.
“We understand that some fans might be upset or confused by the absence of Drake and the presence of a clone, but we hope that they will give the show a chance and see that it is still the same show that they loved, just with a different name and a different co-star,” Robbins said. “Besides, it’s not like we’re doing anything crazy, like making SpongeBob SquarePants a live-action show or something.”
“Josh and Josh” is set to premiere in January 2025 on Nickelodeon.
